Presenting Master Jeremy Chance Engle!

Hello, Everybody!

We want to introduce you to the newest member of the Engle/Meyer family. This first picture is of Carol, Ellen's sister, and Jeff, one of her sons. Her smile is so big because she is holding her first grandchild, Jeremy! He was born on March 5th. Is he just the cutest little baby? Of course the proud daddy is smiling from ear to ear!

He looks like he is trying to swim with the dolphins!

Jeff's wife's name is Jana. There is no wonder why the baby's name begins with the letter "J"! This picture was taken Easter Sunday. Jeff's grandfather's name, (Carol and Ellen's dad), was Charles. Jana's grandfather's name was Lawrence......thus the middle name of Chance!

We think he is probably the only one who is getting any quality sleep time!! We can hardly wait to meet him in person. God bless you, little Jeremy! What a happy blessing you are for the family!! We love you!

Finally--Ellen's Elliptical Trainer!

Hello, Everybody!

Yes, it is true! Sharon put the finishing touches on the new Elliptical today! She feels like it took way too long to get it finished, but it is finally done. Ellen had to help hold some of the black covers, and FINALLY, it is finished. (Notice Sharon's arm muscles in this picture!)

And here is the Queen herself--trying to get the hang of it. It is in the "Mint Bedroom" upstairs. It will be a little extra exercise going up and down to use it!

It looks like she will be able to use this just fine, don't you think? Hopefully her knees, both the new one AND the old one, will like it!

We both have to have new roofs for our homes due to the hail damage we received last fall. We really didn't think that there was a problem until roofing companies began showing up on every street we passed. Both of us had neighbors who needed new roofs. We decided to have our good old State Farm Insurance Adjuster come take a look. We were astounded to hear her say that we both needed new roofs. Oh, joy! Do you know what the smell of tar does to Sharon's asthma??(Cough, cough, wheeze, wheeze!) Ellen's roof is only three years old, but many of the shingles were lifted up and some of the nails pulled out! We are both grateful it hasn't rained much lately!

We bought new hibiscus plants today. Sharon lost both of her beautiful plants to the freeze last year. Ellen was able to save some of hers, but she bought new hibiscus plants and a gorgeous alstromaria plant. We will take pictures later when they have a chance to adapt to their new homes. We love Spring!

Until next time... . . . . . . . . . .

Furniture Fun!

Hello, Everybody!

We thought you might like to see Ellen's new living room furniture! It is Broyhill and made of Microfiber. If you spill something on it, it is supposed to just wipe up with water. Amazing! Below is a picture from the catalog.

This picture was taken after the company moved it in. At first, Ellen thought it might be too big for the living room. After sitting in different spots, she decided it was going to be just fine.

This next picture is of the old furniture. It served the family well during its existence. It was also a great place to take naps! The St. Vincent de Paul Society nows has possession of it. They will find a good home for it!

Here is the old corner. It looked great with the old furniture, but Ellen didn't like it with the new. So Sharon was off to the garage to get the dolly so we could move the cabinet that is full of Coronado High School Band videos.

This next one is of the new corner which opens up the room. The best part is, Ellen didn't have to buy anything new to put here. She is great at arranging and rearranging!
This is a view of the old blue furniture which was really just worn out.

And this last one is of the new look in the living room. When Ellen got up this morning, the newspaper was not there yet. She poured herself a cup of coffee and sat in the living room and watched the morning news for a little while. What a great way to greet the early morning before getting ready for the school!

Until next time. . . . . . . .

Hand Update Plus Pretty Pokers!

Hello, Everybody!

We know, we know! It has been awhile since our last post. Our only excuse is that we are just busy for two old ladies. Sharon is busy going to doctors' appointments. You will notice that word doctors is plural! Anyway, on Monday when she went to the dermatologist, she wasn't happy with the hands. She decided that there was indeed an infection. She prescribed a broad spectrum antibiotic, and told her to come back this Saturday! To make this story shorter, here are pictures of her hands as of this morning. Believe us, they look and feel much better! We hope that the doctor will agree.

Well, now what is this, you ask? Ellen bought a new elliptical trainer. It is heavy and we struggled to move it upstairs piece by piece. Ellen called Joe and he was going to come the next afternoon. The bottom piece is the heaviest and Sharon was determined that she could move it upstairs. Well, it's a long story, and against Ellen's better judgement, the two of us got it up those 15 steps! On Wednesday Sharon decided she would work on putting it together. After a couple of hours of hard work, here is what she has to show for it. Yes, it hurts. Can you believe it? She is lucky that she didn't cut the fingertip off! Now, just remember she has to go to the dermatologist on Saturday! And remember, she is supposed to be keeping it in a sling! The good thing is, since the appointment is on Saturday, Ellen gets to go along! :o) (Sharon has tried to talk her out of going...)
After looking at those poor hands, we thought you might enjoy looking at the wildflowers in Sharon's backyard. They are part of the wildflowers that Paula gave to Ellen last year. We both just tossed them out in the flower beds. It is amazing that they have bloomed ALL year long.

Below you will see this year's rendition of the Red Hot Pokers. Sharon had her yardman cut them way back this year, and we didn't know if they would bloom. They start out as just a red flower, and then gradually turn from red to yellow. The birds love them. This all began from one little gallon plant we bought in Ruidoso many years ago!

Anyway, we thought you might like to see something pretty for a change.
Tomorrow is Friday and Ellen gets out of school at 12:15. We will begin the weekend by going out to lunch somewhere!
Until next time. . . . . . . . . . .

Tuesday's Travels Around the City!

Hello Everybody!

Ellen had a doctor's appointment yesterday. She had a sub at school, so we spent the rest of the day playing! We went to visit two friends at another campus. (We know, we know, she has a day off and we spend part of it at a school!) Oh well, we had a great time. It was great to see Jenny and Dolores and visit a school we had never been to. It is on the Northeast side of town.

After that, we got back on the freeway and headed east to Daw's Furniture Store. We looked around there for a bit and visited with our friend, Mark. He is always so gracious to us.

Next it was LUNCH TIME!! You all know how much we love food! Since we were on the east side, we just headed over to BJ's. Sorry, we didn't have a camera with us, so there are no pictures of food today.

Next on the agenda, we headed back to the West side. We could feel the pull, and hear the call of the OUTLET MALL! Of course Ellen was driving, so what did Sharon do on the way back? Take a nap!! We went to a few of the stores and found some good bargains we just could not pass up.

The day passed all too quickly and before we knew it, it was dinnertime.

We have a few programs that we like to watch and last night there were three on, all at the same time!!! We watched the women's championship basketball game. Then we kept checking back to see who was safe on "Dancing with the Stars", and in between that, we checked on "The Biggest Loser" to see how they were all doing. So our day was a busy one from start to finish. But, we surely had fun.

Until next time. . . . .. . . .. .

Happy Birthday, Joe!

Hello, Everybody!

By now if you have read Nichole's blog, you know that it is indeed Joe's birthday! He has provided Ellen with lots of experiences from the moment he popped out of the womb! Some of those experiences have literally scared the daylights out of her. Others have made her smile with pride! (There are other "joys" that she doesn't even want to talk about!)

One of Ellen's greatest pleasures is the fact that Nichole and Joe are so close. For as many tricks as they played on each other growing up, it is a wonder they have both lived so long.

Happy Birthday, Joe! We hope your day is a happy celebration!
